This sum was further broken down into installments: P40 million in 2023, another P40 million in 2024, and a final P20 million in 2025. The remaining P30 million was handled by former DPWH 4B Regional Director Gerald Pacanan, distributed as P10 million annually over the same three-year period.

When questioned by Associate Justice Sarah Fernandez about the purpose of the money, Bernardo maintained it was a token of appreciation for ensuring seamless dealings with Engineer Alcantara.
