A 41-year-old man was bathed in his own blood after his wife struck him with a large rock inside their residence in Sitio Tal-ot, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City, past 4:00 p.m. on June 19, 2026.
Jealousy triggers attack
Jealousy sparked the argument between the couple while they were drinking. Barangay tanods from Inayawan, led by chief Eddie Abapo, responded to an alarm at around 4:30 p.m. at the said location.
They found the victim, identified only as alias Roy, with wounds on his head and bleeding profusely, with blood covering his body.
The suspect, alias Nor, had already fled and was believed to have gone to her relatives in Barangay Bulacao.
History of abuse
According to Abapo, the couple often argued when drunk, but this time the fight escalated when the suspect picked up a rock and struck her husband. The wife reportedly had long complained of being beaten by her husband whenever he was drunk.
In this incident, the wife retaliated against her husband's repeated abuse. The victim was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) and is still deciding whether to file charges against his wife.
