ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan Suspended by UK Bar

The Bar Standards Board (BSB) of Britain confirmed on Friday the interim suspension of Karim Khan, the former chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), in connection with sexual misconduct allegations he is facing. According to the BSB, the suspension is effective immediately.

BSB Statement on Interim Suspension

In a statement, the BSB said that the interim suspension must be reviewed by an Interim Suspension Panel at a hearing to be held within the next four weeks. “Under the BSB’s Enforcement Regulations, the interim suspension must now be considered by an Interim Suspension Panel at a hearing within the next four weeks,” the BSB stated.

Previous Suspension by ICC

It will be recalled that the ICC had earlier suspended Khan on June 8 while an investigation into the allegations against him was ongoing. Khan, 56, has strongly denied all accusations of sexual misconduct leveled against him.
