Manila Cop Removed for No Helmet While Driving Motorcycle

A police officer assigned to the Manila Police District (MPD) has been relieved from duty after a video circulated online showing him driving a motorcycle without a helmet. The incident occurred on June 19, 2026, at the corner of Lacson Avenue and Dapitan Street in Sampaloc, Manila.

Details of the Incident

According to the MPD, a female traffic enforcer initially flagged down the driver for not wearing a helmet. Instead of presenting his driver's license, the officer showed the MPD logo on his basketball jersey. The traffic enforcer then shook his hand and let him go without issuing a citation.

The MPD confirmed that the officer is a police staff sergeant assigned to Meisic Police Station 11. The video of the encounter quickly spread on social media, prompting immediate action from the MPD leadership.

Official Response and Disciplinary Action

MPD officials stated that they promptly removed the officer from his post after the video went viral. National Police Commission Vice Chairman and Executive Officer Rafael Calinisan condemned the incident and assured the public that the officer would be held accountable. “We will ensure that proper disciplinary measures are taken,” Calinisan said.

The MPD reiterated its commitment to enforcing traffic laws and maintaining public trust. The officer now faces an administrative investigation for violating traffic regulations and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.
