Senator Rodante Marcoleta has declared that he will not resist arrest if law enforcement authorities serve a warrant against him. In a statement, Marcoleta said he would peacefully surrender to authorities should an arrest warrant be issued.
Background of the Complaints
The Office of the Ombudsman is currently reviewing complaints against Marcoleta, but no formal case has been filed in court yet. However, the senator believes a warrant of arrest could be issued soon, leading to his detention. He emphasized that he will not refuse arrest because it is the duty of the arresting officer to enforce the warrant, and he is fully aware of the rules governing arrests.
Marcoleta is facing plunder and indirect bribery complaints at the Ombudsman. The complaints stem from his alleged failure to disclose PHP 75 million in campaign donations received from Mike Defensor and two other businessmen during his 2025 senatorial campaign. As of now, the complaint has not been filed in any court.
Marcoleta's Stance
According to Marcoleta, he understands the legal process and will comply fully. “Kung mangyayari ito, hindi na ako tatanggi dahil tungkulin ng arresting officer na ipatupad ang warrant,” he said.
