Authorities in Central Visayas have scored a major victory in the war on drugs with the arrest of a high-value individual and the seizure of suspected shabu valued at nearly eight million pesos.
Massive Drug Haul in Clarin Operation
The operation unfolded on the evening of Thursday, January 8, 2026. Joint forces from the Special Operations Unit 7 and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group 7 conducted a buy-bust in Purok 2, Barangay Caluwasan, in the town of Clarin, Bohol. The operation led to the apprehension of a suspect identified only by the alias "Jimmy," a 50-year-old resident of the area.
From the suspect, operatives confiscated a substantial package of suspected illegal drugs. The evidence, weighing approximately 1,155 grams or just over one kilogram, carries an estimated street value of P7,854,000. The drugs were reportedly concealed inside plastic cellophane bearing Chinese green tea branding and placed within a sling bag.
Coordinated Police Effort Leads to Arrest
The successful sting was the result of meticulous planning and inter-unit coordination. The PNP Drug Enforcement Group had initially received intelligence regarding the suspect's alleged drug peddling activities. This prompted them to intensify their intelligence monitoring on the target.
After confirming the information, the buy-bust was launched with support from several key units. Teams from Regional Intelligence Unit 7, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit/Regional Special Project Unit 7, and the local Clarin Municipal Police Station all participated, ensuring the operation's success and the suspect's capture.
Evidence Processed and Suspect in Custody
Following the operation, the confiscated drugs were promptly turned over to the Bohol Provincial Forensic Unit for the necessary laboratory examination and chemical analysis. Meanwhile, the arrested individual is currently detained at the Clarin Municipal Police Station while facing appropriate charges.
Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, the chief of the Police Regional Office 7, commended the operating teams. He emphasized that this accomplishment underscores the police force's unrelenting campaign against illegal drugs in the region. The arrest of this high-value target is seen as a significant blow to local drug distribution networks.
