Trisikad Driver's Double Life Exposed in Drug Sting
Authorities in Dalaguete, Cebu have apprehended a trisikad driver who was allegedly using his profession as a cover for selling illegal drugs. The suspect, identified only as alias Jose, was arrested during a buy-bust operation on Friday evening, November 14, 2025.
The 52-year-old married resident of Barangay Poblacion was taken into custody at approximately 8:00 PM after allegedly selling shabu to an undercover police officer. This isn't the first time Jose has faced drug-related charges, according to local police officials.
Significant Drug Haul Recovered
During the operation, police confiscated substantial evidence from the suspect. The seizure included 70 packets of shabu weighing approximately 2.8 grams with an estimated street value of P20,000.
Additional items recovered during the arrest include:
- A black pouch used to store the illegal substances
- P500 in buy-bust money
- Four P50 bills believed to be proceeds from drug sales
Repeat Offender Returns to Illegal Trade
Police Major Vincent Zozobrado, chief of Dalaguete Police Station, revealed that this wasn't the suspect's first encounter with law enforcement. The suspect had previously been arrested on drug charges but resumed his illegal activities after being released.
Major Zozobrado expressed concern that the suspect was using his trisikad driving profession as a front for his drug operations. "We believe he was only using the trisikad driving as an excuse to conceal his actual source of income," the police chief stated in an interview with Sunstar Superbalita Cebu.
The successful operation demonstrates the continued vigilance of Dalaguete police in combating the illegal drug trade in their community. The suspect now faces appropriate charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
