Former AFP Chief Eduardo Oban Jr. Sworn In as New National Security Adviser
In a significant move to bolster national security, former Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief Eduardo Oban Jr. has officially taken his oath as the new National Security Adviser under President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. The swearing-in ceremony occurred this Monday, marking a pivotal transition in the country's defense leadership.
Transition from Retired NSA Eduardo Año
Oban steps into the role previously held by Eduardo Año, who retired from public service due to health reasons. This change comes at a critical time as the administration seeks to enhance its security frameworks and ensure continuity in government measures aimed at safeguarding the nation.
According to the Presidential Communications Office, Oban's appointment reinforces the administration's commitment to strengthening national security, improving defense planning, and enhancing inter-agency coordination. The goal is to achieve a free, peaceful, and stable Philippines, with Oban expected to lead priority initiatives in this domain.
Oban's Extensive Military Background
Before this appointment, Oban brought a wealth of experience to the table, having graduated from the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1979. His career spans various high-level positions, including serving in the Philippine Air Force as Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans (J5) and leading the Visiting Forces Agreement Commission.
With a deep background in military operations and defense strategy, Oban is poised to oversee ongoing efforts to maintain national safety and advance security protocols. His leadership is anticipated to drive forward the government's agenda in creating a resilient and secure environment for all Filipinos.
