The International Criminal Court Trial Chamber III has ordered a new comprehensive medical examination for former President Rodrigo Duterte. The purpose is to determine his ability to stand trial, which is scheduled to begin on November 30.
In a decision issued on June 12, the court reactivated the multidisciplinary medical panel that has been evaluating the former president during his pre-trial phase. The defense team had previously requested an evaluation on May 25, contesting the court's initial finding that Duterte was healthy enough to face the proceedings.
The former president faces charges of crimes against humanity related to his bloody anti-illegal drug campaign.
