Mindanao Quake Death Toll Hits 78, NDRRMC Reports

The death toll from the Magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao has reached 78, according to data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). The report was released on June 18, 2026, ten days after the devastating tremor occurred.

Casualties and Injuries

According to the NDRRMC, most of the reported fatalities are from the SOCCSKSARGEN region, while 21 are from the Davao region. Approximately 1,339 individuals have been reported injured, and 30 people remain missing.

Displaced Population

Over 18,000 individuals are currently staying in evacuation centers, out of an estimated 1.4 million people affected by the earthquake. The affected areas include the Zamboanga Region, Davao, SOCCSKSARGEN, and BARMM.

Validation Process

The NDRRMC clarified that the reported deaths still need to undergo validation by the Management of the Dead and Missing, an office under the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
