Authorities Ramp Up Security on North Luzon Expressway After Stoning Attacks

In response to recent stoning incidents, authorities are significantly enhancing monitoring and security protocols along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX). The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3) has launched a thorough investigation after an unidentified individual reportedly threw a piece of metal at a vehicle's windshield near the Tulaoc Bridge in San Simon town.

No suspects have been identified in this alarming case so far. Brigadier General Jess Mendez, the director of PRO-3, emphasized that parallel investigations are actively underway to pinpoint those responsible and determine if this event is connected to past similar occurrences.

Coordinated Efforts and Increased Patrols

Mendez highlighted that coordination has been intensified with the NLEX Corporation and the Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) management to bolster security measures. Ground units have been instructed to heighten police visibility, particularly on overpasses during peak hours and nighttime, to deter further incidents.

He stated, "We have directed our units to increase police visibility, especially in overpass areas, and to sustain joint patrols and intelligence monitoring to prevent similar incidents." This proactive approach aims to ensure the safety of all motorists using the expressway.

Public Vigilance and Reporting Urged

The PRO-3 director reassured the public that comprehensive measures are being implemented to safeguard travelers. He urged everyone to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through available hotlines. This call to action is part of a broader strategy to involve the community in maintaining highway security.

As investigations continue, authorities are committed to addressing these threats and preventing future stoning incidents on the NLEX.
