P19M Illegal Drugs Seized in Central Visayas Operations

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 reported the seizure of approximately P19 million worth of illegal drugs during a week-long series of buy-bust operations conducted from April 26 to May 2, 2026.

Drug Seizures and Arrests

According to data released by PRO 7, authorities confiscated a total of 2.9 kilograms of illegal drugs, with a standard drug price valued at P19,667,096.00. This haul included 11.45 grams of dried marijuana leaves. In addition, police arrested 229 individuals suspected of involvement in drug-related activities.

Campaign Against Loose Firearms

As part of their intensified campaign against loose firearms, law enforcement officials seized 78 unlicensed firearms, 108 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, and arrested 91 individuals for violations of Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Wanted Persons and Illegal Gambling

In their pursuit of individuals wanted by the law, police apprehended 138 persons with outstanding warrants. Meanwhile, in the campaign against illegal gambling, 119 gamblers were arrested and P24,680 in cash was confiscated.

Commitment to Security Ahead of ASEAN Summit

Police Brigadier General Arnold Abad, Acting Regional Director of PRO 7, stated that the police force in Central Visayas will continue its commitment to ensuring public safety as Cebu prepares to host the ASEAN Summit. "We will sustain intensified operations to ensure a safe, secure, and orderly environment for both the public and our visitors during ASEAN 2026," Abad said.
