The Philippine Center on Transnational Crime (PCTC) is optimistic that an Interpol Red Notice will soon be issued against fugitive former Ako Bicol party-list Representative Zaldy Co, even as reports indicate he is no longer in the Czech Republic.
PCTC Submits Documents to Interpol
PCTC Executive Director Maj. Gen. Romeo Prestoza confirmed that all necessary documents for the case have been submitted to the Interpol Secretariat. "We have already sent it to the (Interpol) secretariat… and we expect that… they can eventually grant us the red notice," Prestoza said during a Department of Justice (DOJ) press briefing in Prague on Monday.
He emphasized the importance of the Red Notice, noting that Co faces serious charges and criminal allegations.
Co's Whereabouts Unknown
Meanwhile, Acting Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida reported that he met with Czech officials who confirmed that Co is no longer in their custody. According to Czech authorities, they are unaware of the former congressman's current location and have declined to provide further details.
