Major Drug Bust in Iloilo City

Police operatives successfully arrested a high-value drug suspect during a buy-bust operation in Iloilo City's Molo district, confiscating approximately 80 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of hundreds of thousands of pesos.

Early Morning Operation Nets Big Catch

The arrest occurred at 4:35 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 in Juntado Subdivision, Barangay Calumpang, Molo. The suspect, identified only by the alias 'Boss', is a 26-year-old resident of Molo District and has been classified as a high-value individual in the police's anti-drug campaign.

Authorities recovered substantial evidence from the suspect, including:

  • Six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of shabu
  • One knot-tied plastic bag containing the illegal substance
  • Buy-bust money and proceeds from drug transactions
  • A black Realme cellular phone
  • Several empty plastic sachets
  • A disposable lighter and other non-drug items

Police Leadership Commends Operation

Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), praised the operating units for their successful mission. "I commend our operating units for this accomplishment, which reflects PRO 6's unwavering commitment to curb the ill effects of illegal drugs and protect our communities," Ligan stated.

The police official issued a strong warning to drug personalities, emphasizing that "we will not stop until every drug personality is brought to justice." He also highlighted the importance of community support and public vigilance in creating a safer, drug-free Western Visayas region.

Multiple Units Collaborate in Arrest

The operation involved coordinated efforts from several police units, including:

  • The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit in Western Visayas
  • The Regional Intelligence Unit in Western Visayas
  • Police Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit 6
  • Iloilo City Police Station 4

The suspect remains in police custody while authorities complete documentation procedures and prepare charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

These offenses carry severe penalties under Philippine law, including life imprisonment to death and fines ranging from P500,000 to P10 million, demonstrating the government's tough stance against illegal drug activities.
