Major Drug Bust in Western Visayas
The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) has announced the results of an intensive 15-day campaign against illegal drugs, which led to a significant victory for law enforcement in Western Visayas. From November 1 to 15, 2025, operations across the region resulted in the confiscation of a massive quantity of narcotics and the arrest of dozens of suspects.
Massive Haul and Arrests
Authorities reported seizing more than 4,334 grams of shabu and an additional five grams of dried marijuana. The sheer volume of the confiscated shabu carries an estimated street value of P29,471,200. In tandem with the drug seizures, a total of 68 individuals were apprehended for their alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, the Regional Director of PRO 6, revealed that the campaign involved 51 separate police operations. These efforts led to the capture of 17 High-Value Individuals (HVIs) and 51 Street-Level Individuals (SVIs).
General Ligan commended the forces involved, stating, "Your tireless efforts demonstrate the PNP’s dedication to ensuring safer communities. Keep fostering strong partnerships with local residents, government agencies, and other stakeholders, as their cooperation is crucial in preventing the proliferation of illegal drugs and holding offenders accountable."
Regional Breakdown and Major Operation
The success was a coordinated effort across different units. The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) made the most significant single contribution, accounting for the seizure of 2,319 grams of shabu. They were followed closely by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) with 1,205 grams, and the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) with 767 grams.
One of the largest single operations occurred on November 15, 2025, in Barangay Aldeguer, Sara, Iloilo. In this coordinated bust, law enforcement agents confiscated approximately 1.8 kilograms of shabu and arrested three individuals identified as repeat drug offenders. This operation was a collaborative effort involving the Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, the Provincial Intelligence Unit, the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company, the Sara Municipal Police Station, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Western Visayas.
All 68 suspects are now facing criminal charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
