PRO-NIR Seizes Firearms, Drugs in Cadiz City Op

Operatives of the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) confiscated firearms and ammunition during a search warrant operation conducted in Hacienda Tagud, Barangay Luna, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, on April 23, 2026.

Arrest and Seizure

The operation led to the arrest of alias Bong-bong, a 39-year-old resident of the area. Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, chief of the PRO-NIR Public Information Office, stated that Cadiz City Police Station personnel raided the suspect's home under a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Community Reports Trigger Action

Malong explained that the operation was prompted by reports from concerned residents who informed the police that the suspect had been threatening neighbors, stating he would shoot them. This behavior caused fear and alarm within the community. Acting on these reports, intelligence operatives conducted casing and surveillance operations, as well as firearms verification, which confirmed that the suspect was not a licensed firearms holder.
