Toddler dies after falling from motorcycle, hit by bus

A one-year-old boy died after falling from a motorcycle and being run over by a Ceres bus on Sunday night, May 31, 2026, in Barangay Bato, Samboan, Cebu.

Victim identified

The Samboan Police Station identified the victim as Justine Zale Ezra Deginion Pajo, a resident of Barangay Magay, Compostela town. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. along the national highway.

How it happened

According to police investigation, the child was being carried by his mother, Alona, 36, while riding a motorcycle driven by his father, Fred Pajo, 40. The family had just returned from Negros and was heading home to Compostela.

Upon reaching the area, Fred lost balance after hitting a pothole. The mother accidentally released the child, causing him to fall onto the road. A following Ceres bus (plate number ABL 3269), driven by Felix Cabrera Baslag, 44, of Malabuyoc, then ran over the toddler.

Death and charges

The child was declared dead on arrival at Malabuyoc District Hospital. The bus driver is currently detained at the Samboan Police Station and will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
