Westmincom Commander Leads Special Hospital Visit for Wounded Soldiers

The Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) demonstrated its commitment to troop welfare by participating in a nationwide hospital visit and gift-giving activity on Friday, November 28, 2025. This meaningful event formed part of the pre-90th Armed Forces of the Philippines Founding Anniversary celebrations happening across the country.

Major General Donald Gumiran, the commanding officer of Westmincom, personally oversaw the distribution of care packages to military personnel receiving medical treatment at Camp Navarro General Hospital in Zamboanga City. The main national event occurred simultaneously at the V. Luna Medical Center in Quezon City, creating a unified gesture of appreciation for soldiers nationwide.

Recognizing Sacrifice and Service

During the emotional visit, General Gumiran emphasized the importance of honoring the personal stories of courage demonstrated by Westmincom personnel. "As we commemorate the AFP's nine decades of dedicated service to the Filipino people, it is fitting that we spend this day with our personnel who continue to embody the ideals of sacrifice and patriotism," Gumiran stated in an official release.

The Westmincom leader highlighted that every wounded, sick, and recovering soldier carries a unique narrative of service deserving of the Command's ongoing recognition and support. The hospital visit provided a crucial opportunity for military leadership to directly acknowledge the sacrifices made by personnel in the line of duty.

Excellence in Military Healthcare Recognized

In addition to honoring patients, the ceremony included special recognition for three dedicated CNGH Medical Health Officers who have shown exceptional commitment to providing quality healthcare for Westmincom personnel.

These medical professionals received the prestigious Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Commendation Medal and Ribbon (CSCMR), honoring their outstanding professionalism, compassion, and unwavering dedication to the healing and recovery of those they serve.

The awards ceremony underscored the vital role that healthcare providers play in maintaining the readiness and morale of military forces in Western Mindanao.

As the AFP prepares to mark its 90th anniversary on December 21, Westmincom has reaffirmed its pledge to continue serving the Filipino people and securing the nation with renewed vigor, compassion, and unity. This hospital visit represents just one of many activities planned to honor the rich legacy of the Armed Forces while looking toward future service to the nation.
