The Commission on Elections announced on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, that more than 630,000 Filipinos have taken the crucial step toward participating in next year's local elections.

Record Numbers in Voter Registration

From October 20 to November 23, 2025, the Comelec recorded a total of 637,281 voter registration applications for the upcoming November 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections. This significant turnout demonstrates strong public interest in the grassroots democratic process.

Breaking down the numbers, election officials revealed that 500,557 individuals applied to vote in the barangay elections, while 136,724 young Filipinos registered to participate in the Sangguniang Kabataan polls. These figures represent a substantial engagement from both general and youth voters across the nation.

Regional Registration Hotspots

Calabarzon emerged as the region with the highest number of registration applicants, recording 134,871 individuals seeking to exercise their right to vote. The National Capital Region followed with 76,379 applicants, while Central Luzon ranked third with 70,943 citizens completing their voter registration.

The Comelec's innovative Register Anywhere/Anytime Program has also gained traction, receiving 1,911 applications through this flexible registration system designed to make the process more accessible to all eligible voters.

Extended Registration Period

Voter registration will remain open until May 18, 2026, giving ample time for more Filipinos to secure their voting rights. This extended period allows those who haven't registered yet to complete the process well ahead of the election deadline.

The continued high registration numbers indicate strong public awareness about the importance of the upcoming Barangay and SK elections, which determine leadership at the most fundamental level of Philippine governance.
