Davao del Sur Provides Financial and Material Assistance

The Provincial Government of Davao del Sur demonstrated its commitment to community development by distributing significant financial and material assistance to various barangays and organizations during a special ceremony held on November 24, 2025.

Barangay Functionaries Receive Cash Incentives

During the Monday Convocation event at the Governor Douglas Ra. Cagas Sports and Business Center in Digos City, several barangays from multiple municipalities received substantial cash assistance intended as incentives for their dedicated functionaries. The total distribution amounted to hundreds of thousands of pesos, with specific allocations including Barangay Ihan, Manual, and San Isidro in Kiblawan each receiving ₱100,000, while Barangay Molopolo in the same municipality was granted ₱200,000.

Other beneficiaries included Barangay Linawan in Bansalan with ₱100,000 and Barangay Mabini in Magsaysay receiving the largest single allocation of ₱270,000. This financial support recognizes the crucial role barangay workers play in local governance and community service.

Governor's Assurance and Additional Beneficiaries

In her address to attendees, Governor Yvonne Roña Cagas made a significant commitment to barangay workers across the municipalities. "My promise is, regarding your bonus, even if it won't increase, it will remain the same amount as last year. It cannot go down," Governor Cagas assured the crowd in both English and vernacular, emphasizing the provincial government's dedication to supporting local workers.

Beyond barangay assistance, the provincial government extended support to other organizations. The Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) – Davao del Sur Council received ₱300,000 to fund their 44th Provincial Camp, ensuring the continuation of valuable youth development programs. Meanwhile, the Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office (DSPPO) obtained equipment and materials worth ₱62,822, including a brand-new sewing machine, steel pipes, cement, welding rods, deformed bars, and construction materials.

Infrastructure Support Across the Province

The assistance program also included substantial infrastructure support with PE pipes valued at ₱200,142.80 distributed to numerous barangays and schools throughout Davao del Sur. Recipients spanned multiple municipalities, including Kiagot and Lungag in Digos City, Kiblagon in Sulop, La Union in Hagonoy, Ceboza and Cabasagan in Matanao, Magsaysay CES and Kasuga ES in Magsaysay, Lower Katipunan in Padada, and Eman and Union in Bansalan.

The ceremony, hosted by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), saw attendance from key provincial figures including Vice Governor Marc Cagas, board members, deputy governors, local officials, and provincial government employees. Governor Cagas concluded the event with an inspiring message: "Let's give little kindness to each and everyone," highlighting the spirit of community and mutual support that characterized the distribution event.
