Mabalacat City's SOCA 2025 Intensifies Fight Against Online Child Exploitation
Mabalacat City SOCA 2025 Focuses on Child Protection

Mabalacat City took a powerful stand for its youngest citizens during the State of the Children’s Address (SOCA) 2025, held on Friday, November 21, at the SMX Clark Convention Center. The event placed a critical focus on the local government's intensified battle against the growing threat of online child sexual abuse and exploitation.

A Call to Action Against Digital Dangers

Mayor Geld Aquino, leading the event alongside Vice Mayor Jun Castro, delivered a compelling address that resonated with officials, barangay leaders, and child protection advocates. He underscored the urgent need to shield children from all forms of abuse, with a particular emphasis on the perils of the digital age. "This is a reminder of the importance of protection against online sexual abuse and exploitation, as well as the care for the overall rights of children," Mayor Aquino stated.

He further framed this not just as a government initiative but as a collective challenge for the entire community. Aquino added that it is a "challenge and call to the government, community, and every citizen: children should not only be protected, but should also be listened to, given the opportunity to participate, and guided towards their growth and development."

Holistic Programs and Barangay Recognition

The city government detailed its comprehensive child protection initiatives, which are built upon the four core pillars of children's rights: Survival, Development, Protection, and Participation. These programs reflect what Mayor Aquino described as the city's "unwavering determination to uphold a safe and nurturing environment for every child."

A significant highlight of SOCA 2025 was the conferment of the Gawad Makabatang Barangay Award. This prestigious recognition was given to barangays that demonstrated exceptional commitment and outstanding efforts in implementing child protection measures, development programs, and initiatives that encourage youth participation.

Reinforcing a Child-Centered Vision

The 2025 SOCA serves to strengthen Mabalacat City's long-term vision of building a safer, more inclusive, and child-centered community. This event reinforces the principle that every child must be valued, heard, and empowered to reach their full potential.

The city's dedication to child welfare is not new. In recent years, the local government unit has earned numerous awards for its various programs that champion the welfare, safety, and holistic development of children, cementing its reputation as a leader in this crucial advocacy.
