Pampanga Businessman's Feeding Program Boosts Student Nutrition, Gains Local Praise
Pampanga Feeding Program Praised for Improving Student Nutrition

Local government officials in Pampanga have publicly praised the impactful feeding program initiated by Kapampangan businessman Rodolfo "Tatay Bong" Pineda, which directly targets and combats malnutrition among school-aged children throughout the province. The privately funded initiative provides nutritious meals to undernourished pupils from various cities and towns for a sustained period of six months.

Local Leaders Express Gratitude

Municipal chief executives have expressed profound gratitude to Pineda for launching this vital program using his personal resources. Arayat Mayor Jeffrey Luriz and Sta. Ana Mayor Dinan Labung both emphasized the program's substantial and meaningful contribution to the well-being of their respective communities.

Bacolor Mayor Diman Datu specifically highlighted the initiative's positive effect on educational outcomes for students. He stated, "Your program given to the students is excellent. This is a great help for their future because we believe that 'A hungry child will never learn.' So if children eat delicious and nutritious food, you are helping their health and future."

Measurable Positive Results

Sto. Tomas Mayor John Sambo presented concrete, data-driven results demonstrating the program's success within his municipality. He cited an official report from the Department of Education–Sto. Tomas District, submitted by Schools Division Superintendent Anna Liza Pineda.

According to the monitored data from December 2025 to March 2026, which tracked 515 students across nine schools, significant improvements were recorded:

  • Pupils classified with a normal nutritional status increased dramatically from 232 to 378.
  • Cases of severe malnutrition plummeted from 77 down to just 19.
  • A total of 146 children improved from being undernourished to achieving a normal, healthy weight.

Exemplary School Outcomes

Several schools reported particularly outstanding outcomes. Balangcas Elementary School and Moras Dela Paz Elementary School achieved full normalization, meaning all monitored learners reached a normal nutritional status. Meanwhile, San Matias Elementary School maintained 134 students at a normal status and successfully rehabilitated all 26 previously undernourished pupils.

Mayor Sambo underscored the value of such public-private partnerships, stating, "This partnership is excellent because the government cannot do everything alone. In this way, we help save the future of the children, and the effect of the program is very clear based on the data provided by the school heads." The program stands as a model for community-driven intervention addressing child health and education.
