Ateneo de Manila University has confirmed that head coach Tab Baldwin and team manager Epok Quimpo have been placed on leave. The announcement was made by Ateneo school president Roberto Yap, who stated that the move comes as the university begins an investigation into the deaths of Rene Baterbonia and Nigerian center Divine Adili.
President Yap emphasized that the leave is intended to preserve the overall integrity, independence, and fairness of the investigation. Baldwin and Quimpo will remain on leave until the investigation is concluded.
As of now, Baldwin has not issued any statement regarding the matter. He was also absent when the team visited Baterbonia's wake at the Arlington Memorial Chapels.
