Senator Panfilo 'Ping' Lacson has forcefully rejected the 'dog' label hurled at him by former Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano, dismissing the insult as a self-admission and expressing concern for his colleague's mental state.
Lacson fires back on social media
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Lacson categorically denied the accusation, noting that Cayetano has long called him 'Kuya Ping.' He argued that if Cayetano now views him as a 'dog,' it amounts to a self-admission. 'I feel sorry for his situation because he is saying all sorts of things,' Lacson said. 'I hope he doesn't completely meltdown.'
Cayetano's Facebook Live tirade
The exchange began during Cayetano's Facebook Live broadcast, where he labeled Lacson a 'dog,' defined as someone who blindly follows orders. Cayetano also called Senate President Pro Tempore Vicente Sotto III and Senator Raffy Tulfo 'puppets' of Malacañang, while Senator Erwin Tulfo was described as Lacson's 'puppet.'
Political tensions escalate
This public spat highlights deepening divisions within the Senate, with Lacson's camp viewing Cayetano's remarks as a sign of desperation. Lacson urged Cayetano to remain composed, warning against further inflammatory statements that could damage Senate decorum.
