The Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) launched the "Kalayaan Mural" on Friday, June 12, 2026, as part of the Independence Day celebration and a demonstration of patriotism.
The event was led by NOLCOM at Camp General Servillano Aquino in Tarlac City. The activity showcased the love for country among soldiers and the local community. The centerpiece of the celebration was the inauguration of a large wall art or mural called the "Kalayaan Mural."
This project aims to commemorate the courage and sacrifices of Filipino heroes who fought for the nation's freedom, strengthen awareness of territorial defense, particularly the advocacy for the West Philippine Sea (WPS), and use art to unite the sentiments of soldiers and citizens towards peace and development.
The mural is the result of collaboration between talents from the military and local artists, proving that defending the country can also be expressed through creative art.
