Peaceful School Opening in Central Luzon, Crime Drops

The first day of classes on Monday was peaceful and orderly, according to Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez, director of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3). He reported zero major incidents during the school opening in Central Luzon.

Massive Police Deployment

PRO3 deployed over 3,500 police officers across the region under Oplan Balik Eskwela 2026. The deployment aimed to ensure the safety of students and teachers. Police monitored 4,376 public and private schools, with dedicated Police Assistance Desks, mobile patrols, and foot patrols stationed at schools.

Personal Inspection

Brig. Gen. Mendez personally inspected several schools in the region to oversee security measures.

Crime Rate Decline

Meanwhile, the crime rate in Central Luzon dropped by 8.33 percent. From April 6 to June 3 this year, cases decreased by 46. Specifically, physical injuries fell by 21 cases, rape by 14 cases, and robbery by 9 cases. No carnapping incidents were reported in the region. The decline is attributed to intensified police operations and intelligence gathering by PRO3.

Brig. Gen. Mendez commended the efforts of his personnel in maintaining peace and order during the school opening and in reducing criminal activities.
