Trillanes reveals moves to derail VP Sara impeachment trial

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has revealed what he believes are coordinated efforts to derail the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte. According to Trillanes, the vice president's camp and her supporters are pushing several measures to disrupt the trial's progress.

Alleged tactics to obstruct the trial

One of the key tactics, Trillanes said, is the continuous release of stories involving 18 former bodyguards of Zaldy Co. These narratives are reportedly intended to discredit individuals pushing the impeachment complaint. Trillanes also cited destabilization efforts aimed at stalling the trial or tainting it with controversial issues.

"The vice president's camp wants the trial to create political outrage and sway public opinion in her favor, but that is not happening. So they will surely take other steps to stop it," Trillanes stated.

Defense team ready for trial

Meanwhile, the defense team of Vice President Sara Duterte earlier stated that they are prepared to face and answer the case in the impeachment court. The first pre-trial conference for the trial took place on June 18, 2026.

Trillanes' allegations come amid heightened political tensions surrounding the impeachment process. The former senator, a known critic of the Duterte administration, urged the public to remain vigilant against what he described as attempts to subvert the rule of law.
