The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has suspended two Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons from Makati City over corruption allegations.
Details of the Suspensions
DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla identified the suspended officials as Natalia Georgianna M. Tupaz of Barangay Dasmariñas and Cecilia Louise P. Yabut of Barangay Magallanes. Tupaz was suspended for six months for allegedly demanding a 20 percent kickback from a supplier for Halloween projects, confirmed through a phone call. She is also accused of submitting an SK resolution with a forged signature of their SK Secretary, who had resigned on March 8, 2026.
Yabut was suspended for three months for submitting documents with forged signatures, including that of an SK council member who was abroad at the time.
Possible Charges
Remulla stated that Tupaz may face charges before the Office of the Ombudsman for direct bribery, violation of Republic Act 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act), and falsification of public documents. Yabut and the SK treasurer may face falsification charges related to a purchase request.
