DSWD-Davao Announces Cash Relief Assistance for Tricycle Drivers in Davao del Sur
The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao Region (DSWD-Davao) has officially announced that a total of 1,110 tricycle drivers in the province of Davao del Sur will receive Cash Relief Assistance (CRA). This initiative is part of the government's ongoing efforts to support individuals affected by economic challenges.
Distribution Schedule and Payment Details
According to DSWD-Davao, each qualified tricycle driver will receive P5,000 in cash aid. The distribution is scheduled to take place over three consecutive days, from April 16 to 18, 2026. The specific locations for the payout have been carefully organized to ensure accessibility for all beneficiaries.
- April 16: Distribution will be held at the Municipal Hall in the Municipality of Matanao.
- April 17: Payouts will occur at the Municipal Hall in Sulop.
- April 18: The final distribution will take place at the Municipal Hall in Hagonoy.
Requirements and Guidelines for Beneficiaries
DSWD-Davao has issued clear instructions for all qualified beneficiaries to follow during the claim process. To receive the cash aid, tricycle drivers must present their professional driver's license along with a photocopy of the license that includes three specimen signatures. The agency emphasized that only the listed beneficiaries are permitted to claim the assistance personally.
"All qualified beneficiaries of the DSWD-Davao Cash Relief Assistance (CRA) are the only ones allowed to go to the payout areas to claim their aid, and proxies are not allowed," DSWD-Davao stated in a Facebook post on April 15, 2026. This strict no-proxy policy is designed to prevent fraud and ensure that the aid reaches the intended recipients directly.
Addressing Concerns and Future Plans
For individuals who have not received a notification message or find their names missing from the beneficiary list, DSWD-Davao encourages them to raise their concerns directly with their local municipality or the local Social Welfare and Development Office. The agency is committed to addressing any issues promptly to ensure no eligible driver is left out.
Earlier, DSWD-Davao indicated that after completing distributions in major cities within the region, the focus would shift to tricycle drivers in key municipalities. When questioned about the total number of beneficiaries, officials noted that the final count is still pending as some local governments are finalizing their lists. However, the distribution schedule has already been established to facilitate timely aid delivery.
Background and Program Objectives
This cash relief initiative falls under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program, which aims to provide immediate financial support to those in need. The program prioritizes tricycle drivers, with plans to extend assistance to other transport sector workers, including jeepney, taxi, UV Express, and TNVS drivers, as well as motorcycle taxi riders, delivery riders, and bus drivers.
The primary goal of the CRA is to address the urgent needs of drivers and their families amid ongoing economic pressures, particularly those exacerbated by the energy crisis linked to conflicts in the Middle East. By offering this targeted aid, DSWD-Davao seeks to alleviate financial burdens and support the livelihoods of essential transport workers in the region.
