The mobile healthcare provider Hospital on Wheels (HOW) is gearing up to significantly expand its reach across Pampanga province. This expansion follows a pivotal meeting between HOW leadership and local officials, paving the way for more communities to receive vital medical services.
Partnership for Wider Healthcare Access
The planning session, held recently, involved HOW president Dr. Philippe Punsalan and key figures from the Provincial Government of Pampanga. The delegation was led by Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda and Board Member Kaye Naguit. The core objective of the talks was to strengthen collaboration, enabling HOW to extend its mission to a greater number of residents, especially those in areas with limited access to hospitals and medical specialists.
As a direct result of this meeting, the group is now formally set to conduct a series of health missions throughout the province in partnership with the local government. This structured alliance aims to systematically address healthcare gaps in remote barangays.
Proven Track Record and Comprehensive Services
The provincial Capitol highlighted HOW's recent activity, noting that in December, the organization successfully carried out a medical mission in the municipality of Porac. There, they provided free medical services to members of the Aeta community, demonstrating their commitment to serving indigenous populations.
Founded in 2007, Hospital on Wheels is described as a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious volunteer organization. Its primary focus is delivering comprehensive medical missions directly at the community level. The range of services offered is extensive and includes:
- Surgical procedures
- Dental care
- Optical services (eye care)
- Treatment for conditions like tumors, hernia, and cleft lip
