LTO 7 and Piston Cebu Collaborate to Boost Cebu's Transportation Efficiency
In a significant move to enhance public mobility, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7 Director, Atty. Wendel Dinglasan, convened with representatives from Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide (Piston) Cebu to establish a formal partnership. The meeting, held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, marks a pivotal step toward creating a more efficient and responsive transportation network in Cebu.
Strengthening Ties for Public Benefit
During the discussions, Dinglasan expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing its potential to benefit the general public. "We are very glad to meet with the representatives of Piston Cebu to strengthen our ties and establish a better transportation network for the benefit of the public," he stated. The dialogue focused on key areas such as common violations by public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers and innovative settlement arrangements to streamline processes.
Proposed Initiatives and Future Commitments
A notable proposal from the meeting was the introduction of a dedicated lane for settlement transactions for public utility drivers. Dinglasan highlighted this as a priority consideration, acknowledging the essential role these drivers play in daily commutes. "A dedicated lane for settlement transactions for public utility drivers was also discussed and we will certainly take it into consideration, knowing that they are essential to the general public," he explained. Additionally, LTO 7 committed to fostering this partnership through ongoing communication and collaborative efforts.
The meeting was attended by Piston Cebu chairman Greg Perez and other group officials, underscoring the collective commitment to improving transportation services. This partnership aims to address operational challenges and enhance the overall efficiency of Cebu's transport system, setting a precedent for future collaborations in the region.
