The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) is taking a significant step to improve support for the elderly in Central Luzon. The agency announced on January 19, 2026, that it is strengthening the delivery of its programs and services for older persons across the region.
New Regional Hub in Pampanga
This enhancement is centered around a new physical presence for the commission. The effort has been reinforced by a recent usufruct agreement between the NCSC and the Provincial Government of Pampanga. This pivotal agreement allows the establishment of the NCSC Regional Office 3 within the Provincial Capitol Compound in the city of San Fernando, Pampanga.
Bringing Government Closer to Seniors
NCSC Chairperson Merceditas Gutierrez emphasized the transformative impact of having a permanent regional office. She stated that it will make government services far more accessible to senior citizens and enable the Commission to address their concerns more efficiently.
"This is a very big thing for us because senior citizens can now go to the regional office at any time, and their problems can be relayed to the Commission through it," Gutierrez explained. She highlighted that the convenience and direct access are crucial for timely and effective assistance.
Strengthened Coordination for Welfare
Beyond direct service, the new office is seen as a catalyst for better collaboration. Gutierrez added that a permanent regional base will strengthen coordination with other government agencies and local government units (LGUs). These entities are mandated to protect the welfare and rights of older persons, and closer teamwork is expected to streamline and expand the reach of welfare benefits.
The NCSC's strategy involves working hand-in-hand with LGUs to ensure that programs are effectively implemented at the grassroots level. This move signifies a committed push to make the golden years of Filipinos in Central Luzon more secure, supported, and dignified.
