Filipina tennis star Alex Eala and her Czech partner Nikola Bartunkova suffered a narrow defeat in their first match at the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) 125 Birmingham Open doubles event in England on Monday evening, June 1, 2026 (Philippine time).
Eala and Bartunkova put up a strong fight before eventually bowing to Great Britain's Harriet Dart and Maia Lumsden in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 11-9.
Eala, ranked world No. 37, is also competing in the singles event of the tournament.
