Colombia successfully opened their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign by dominating newcomers Uzbekistan, 3-1, in a match held at Mexico City Stadium. The Los Cafeteros controlled the game led by their star player Luis Díaz.
First Half Goal by Muñoz
In the 40th minute of the first half, Colombian player Daniel Muñoz scored a goal after receiving a great pass from Díaz. Uzbekistan quickly responded.
Historic Goal for Uzbekistan
In the 60th minute, Abbosbek Fayzullaev made history by scoring Uzbekistan's first-ever World Cup goal, leveling the match at 1-1.
Colombia did not let the celebration last long. Just five minutes later (65th minute), Díaz himself scored to regain the lead. Finally, Colombia sealed the win with a header from substitute Jaminton Campaz in the 90+9th minute of stoppage time.
With this victory, Colombia leads Group K with three points, as the group stage continues in the FIFA World Cup 2026.
