Filipina tennis star Alex Eala continues her impressive campaign after defeating Croatia's Donna Vekic 7-5, 6-4 in the Round of 32 of the WTA 500 Berlin Tennis Open in Germany on Wednesday.
Eala recorded her third consecutive win against Vekic, having previously beaten her at the ASB Classic and the Kooyong Classic exhibition tournament earlier this year.
With this victory, Eala advances to the Round of 16, where she will face world No. 2 Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan.
According to Eala, she knew Vekic would fight until the end, so she had to give her all. The Filipina tennis star also praised Vekic, calling her a great player who always gives a tough fight whenever they face each other.
Eala is currently ranked 35th in the world, while Vekic is ranked 33rd. In the next tournament, Eala will once again face Rybakina in an eagerly anticipated rematch.
