401 Nabbed in Cebu Safer Cities Initiative, P103K Fines

At least 401 individuals were arrested in the latest intensified operation of the Safer Cities Initiative across Cebu Province on June 14, 2026.

Fines and Violations

The police collected P103,150 in fines from those who violated local ordinances during 238 operations. According to data from the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO), city and municipal traffic ordinances had the highest number of violations, with 236 cases recorded. This was followed by public drunkenness (42), curfew violations involving minors (67 intercepted), smoking in public places (21), roaming without a shirt (21), videoke late at night (7), and seven other ordinance violations.

Arrests and Warnings

Of all those apprehended, only 236 were fined, while 165 were given warnings and released without any charges filed in court.

Official Statements

“Discipline remains the cornerstone of peace and order. While we continue to enforce the law with consistency, we also remind the public that lasting safety begins at home and is strengthened by community cooperation. Our operations are meant to guide behavior and promote responsibility among all Cebuanos,” said Police Colonel Abubakar Mangelen Jr., chief of the CPPO.

Police Brigadier General Arnold Abad, chief of police in Central Visayas, also commended the CPPO for its continued enforcement of local ordinances.

“The continued success of the Safer Cities Initiative in Cebu reflects the dedication of our personnel on the ground. However, this effort is most effective when supported by an equally responsible and disciplined community. We urge the public to remain cooperative in maintaining peace and order,” Abad said.
