President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered an immediate investigation into the deaths of two athletes from Ateneo de Manila University, which occurred recently during their training. According to Palace Press Officer USec. Claire Castro, the President has extended his condolences to the families of the victims. Castro emphasized that the President wants the case to progress quickly to determine the truth behind the incident.
Possible hazing involved
Following reports that hazing, not ordinary training, may have caused the tragedy, Castro appealed to the public not to preempt the official investigation by authorities. She added that a thorough investigation is necessary because the outcome of the victims' activity was not favorable, while assuring that the administration aims to provide swift justice to all Filipinos in such situations.
