The San Antonio Spurs are grappling with the pain of a blown 29-point lead in Game 4, which resulted in a 3-1 series deficit against the New York Knicks in the National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals. However, the Spurs have made it clear that they must bury this disappointment and focus solely on surviving Game 5, which will be held at their home court on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Coach Johnson's Perspective
"Painful, yeah, because we played so well. We have two days to put everything we have into Saturday's (Sunday) game. That's the only game that matters," said Spurs coach Mitch Johnson. Johnson emphasized his respect for the Knicks' strength but believes the Spurs themselves are responsible for their losses in the series.
"We feel like we've decided the outcome of all four games. We need to be better in the next game," Johnson added.
Wembanyama's Leadership
The Spurs' towering leader, Victor Wembanyama, asserted that the team will grow stronger from this painful experience and, most importantly, will not wave the white flag. The team is determined to fight back in the upcoming game.
