Filipino pole vault star EJ Obiena began his 2026 outdoor season campaign by winning a silver medal at the Flight Circus Düsseldorf on Sunday, June 14, 2026, Germany time.
After two attempts, the 30-year-old Obiena cleared 5.74 meters, finishing second behind American Chris Nilsen of the USA, who cleared 5.83 meters to claim the gold medal.
Obiena, a two-time Olympian, attempted to clear 5.83 and 5.9 meters in hopes of winning the gold but was unsuccessful.
